HARARE, Zimbabwe — 23 April 2026 — The rollout of the 100MW Munyati Solar Project at Munyati Power Station has entered a significant new phase, with site establishment and early works having commenced.

This milestone reflects steady progress toward delivering additional, reliable power to Zimbabwe’s national grid, while underscoring the coordinated efforts of the Government of Zimbabwe and Munyati Evergreen Energy (Pvt) Ltd, the project’s developer. Once completed, the solar plant is expected to strengthen national energy security and support industrial activity and economic productivity.

Initial works on site include establishment of construction facilities, preliminary ground preparation, and mobilisation of technical teams. These activities lay the foundation for th main construction phase, which will see the installation of solar photovoltaic panels and associated infrastructure in the months ahead.

This development is being progressed through close collaboration between Munyati Evergreen Energy (Pvt) Ltd and the relevant Government institutions, with a focus on disciplined project execution, on-site readiness, and adherence to applicable permitting, safety, and environmental requirements.

The Munyati Solar Project forms part of broader efforts to diversify Zimbabwe’s energy mix and reduce reliance on traditional generation sources. By harnessing solar energy at scale, the project supports a more resilient and sustainable power system while aligning with global trends toward cleaner energy solutions.

Jordan Maze, Senior Executive of Munyati Evergreen Energy (Pvt) Ltd, said the early-works milestone signals strong forward momentum and reflects the joint commitment of the Government of Zimbabwe and the Munyati Evergreen Energy team to deliver grid- strengthening infrastructure that will add reliable capacity, support economic activity, and advance Zimbabwe’s long-term energy security.
